The district Arpoador is actually a part of Ipanema, it has 800 m of extension between the Copacabana Fort and Francisco Otaviano Street with Vieira Souto Avenue.

The name of the place comes from the fact that, in the past, it was possible to harpoon whales (Arpoador = Harpooner). The place was used by fishermen (“arpoadores”) for viewing and later fishing with harpoons of the whales that approached the place.

Here some of the most expensive real estates of latin america are located.
